Eat our Dill Tips with a seafood favourite. The warm, slightly bitter taste of dill tips goes well with salmon, crab and scallops. For a seafood spaghetti with a difference, combine dill tips with crab and courgette, finishing with some lemon zest.

For a light and energising salad, use dill tips to jazz up new potatoes. Mix the dill tips with olive oil and Dijon mustard. Or for an unusual bread and butter side for an outdoor dinner, add dill tips through the butter, with olive oil and rock salt.

Dill tips (or dill 'weed') originated in Egypt or Germany – history isn't quite clear on that. It's used a lot in cooking across the world, but most notably in Eastern Europe and the Middle East. It has soothing properties, and is used in gripe water to calm babies.

Serbians have a saying 'a dill in every soup', which means the same as the British 'a finger in every pie'.
