Cole & Mason Tandoori Spice Blend
Eat our Tandoori Spice Blend with a homemade tandoori chicken. Mix the spice blend with yoghurt. Then work into the chicken and let it sit in the marinade to soak up the flavours – for a few hours, if you can. Then roast it in the oven and serve with dal and naan.
Why not try spicing up a barbecue. Tandoori cooking happens at very high heat. So a barbecue can do the job well, as long as you keep the lid closed as much as you can. Barbecued tandoori prawns go well with a pineapple salsa. But you don't have to go for meat: paneer and aubergine skewers work well with a tandoori marinade too.
A 'tandoor' is a kind of oven traditionally used in India and all over southern, central and western Asia. It's shaped like a cylinder and is usually made from clay or metal. This is where the name 'tandoori' comes from.
Naan bread is cooked by sticking it to the inside wall of the tandoor, where it bubbles up and goes brown.
